Community Polls and User Sentiment
To supplement official data, informal community polls can shed light on user preferences. A recent poll on social media asked Linux users about their display server choice and satisfaction levels:
About 47% of respondents who use Wayland report being happy with it.
Approximately 37% of X11 users are satisfied.
A smaller subset (around 13%) use X11 but would prefer Wayland.
