This moment prompts a broader question: what moves societies and leaders closer to peace—resentment or gratitude? Do we celebrate successes regardless of political affiliation? Instead of moving the goalposts or dismissing achievements because they don’t fit an ideological narrative, perhaps acknowledging progress is more productive.
If praise is contingent upon team loyalty, then true progress remains obscured. But if leaders and citizens alike acknowledge and reward the steps taken toward peace, it can reinforce behaviors and policies that promote continued diplomacy.
