These labels are often applied reflexively, especially when protests are led by white citizens. Such media framing serves to shut down honest discussion by demonizing legitimate community concerns and labeling them as extremist.
It is important to recognize that protests by diverse groups—including Mexicans protesting gentrification in Mexico City or Burkina Faso resisting French colonial influence—are about sovereignty and community integrity, not necessarily far-right ideology. Countries are complex communities, not mere territorial entities.
