Part 4/11:
Connecting Vascular Health, Alzheimer's, and Abnormal Angiogenesis
Research, including a prominent publication in The Lancet, explores the link between angiogenesis and Alzheimer’s. It suggests that abnormal blood vessel growth—abnormal angiogenesis—in Alzheimer’s brains leads not only to poor blood supply but also to the secretion of toxins and precursors to amyloid plaques, hallmark features of the disease. The growing body of scientific work is investigating this new frontier, considering abnormal angiogenesis as both a marker and a potential therapeutic target in Alzheimer’s.
