Body language is crucial in lie detection and deception execution. A skilled liar can mask their true feelings by controlling their body language, making it appear as though they are telling the truth. Conversely, untrained or bad liars often exhibit signs of discomfort: fidgeting, shifting, avoiding eye contact, or inconsistent gestures. The trained individual learns to either mimic the other person’s body language—through mirroring—to establish trust or to conceal signs of deceit.
