Some people deeply desire control rather than genuine help. These individuals manipulate kindness into obligation, guilt-tripping, and gaslighting to get their way. They may make you feel that saying no is unchristian or selfish. However, manipulation is not aligned with Christ’s ministry.
Jesus exemplified boundaries; He refused to be controlled by external pressure and walked away when His purpose was being sidetracked. Matthew 4:1-11 shows Jesus resisting temptation and external influence. If providing assistance costs you your peace, purpose, or identity, it's not true help—it's a trap that leads to spiritual captivity.
