Many of Arad’s friends, younger men who had studied alongside him and shared similar humble beginnings, regarded him with a mixture of admiration and envy. They approached him one day, questioning why he, seemingly no more diligent or honorable than they, had become the richest in Babylon while they struggled to make ends meet. They pondered whether fickle fate or mere luck had been the cause of his prosperity, lamenting their own lack of fortune despite sharing the same background and opportunities.
