When asked how much money is enough to feel comfortable, I often reply that comfort isn't derived from wealth but from avoiding foolishness. Poverty can be peaceful if you avoid idiocy, and riches can be miserable if you're chasing superficial status. Society often confuses comfort with excess: the middle class seeks security through luxury, while the wealthy pursue freedom but remain chained to appearances. Both paths can lead to financial distress—they're different versions of the same mistake.
