Rethinking Nihilism and Embracing Personal Agency
For a long time, I believed I understood nihilism—the philosophical view that life is ultimately meaningless, often born from observations of suffering, evil, finitude, and the seemingly arbitrary and unjust nature of the world. This worldview can evoke a profound sense of despair, as it suggests that efforts to find meaning are ultimately futile. However, as I have reflected more deeply, I have come to believe that nihilism, especially in its cynical form, lacks justification.
