Similarly, differences in agreeableness – the tendency to be cooperative or confrontational – often produce tension. A highly agreeable person may find a disagreeable partner harsh or unkind, while the latter might perceive the former as wishy-washy or overly accommodating. Interestingly, women tend to score higher on agreeableness than men—roughly half a standard deviation—which means that when pairing men and women randomly, women are more likely to be the more agreeable partner about 60% of the time. These differences can influence everyday interactions and long-term compatibility.
