Creativity and IQ: A Complex Relationship
Creativity is often linked to intelligence, particularly IQ. Individuals with higher IQ scores tend to be more creative, and notable creative figures frequently exhibit high IQ levels. However, defining creativity involves more than intelligence; it encompasses the ability to engage in innovative, novel, and useful thinking.
Creativity can be understood in terms of two primary dimensions: the propensity to generate creative ideas (creative thinking) and the actual achievement of creative outputs (creative achievement). The former involves spontaneous, associative thinking that can trigger diverse and distant ideas, while the latter concerns the successful realization and implementation of those ideas in the real world.
