Bloomberg reports that President Trump is planning to issue a national standard for autonomous vehicles. This could be influenced by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has been in discussions with Trump and sees Tesla's future as heavily reliant on autonomous driving and AI. Currently, there is a patchwork of state regulations that make it difficult for automakers to deploy AVs nationally. While the Department of Transportation could issue rules, an act of Congress would accelerate the process.
