The monumental task of intercepting Oumuamua is fraught with difficulties. First and foremost is the challenge of speed—the object is moving rapidly and is now situated more than 6 billion kilometers away. Current chemical rockets are inadequate for the task. Even if a spacecraft could catch up with Oumuamua, slowing down to study it presents another obstacle; moving too quickly would prevent valuable data collection. Additionally, spotting such a diminutive object in the vastness of space compounds the issue, as Oumuamua only spans about 1,000 meters.
