At the heart of Wargo's theory is the concept that prophecies can often be self-fulfilling. He details a compelling model where a prophecy or precognitive impression influences behavior, causing individuals to act in ways that ultimately fulfill the prophecy itself. The classic example often referred to is that of Oedipus, whose attempts to escape his foretold fate only led him into its arms. This paradigm suggests that the future is fixed in certain respects, similar to the past, and that time travel—whether informational or physical—does not alter history.
