As the day commenced in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, excitement filled the air. The first order of business was to secure a bus ticket to a destination south of the capital. With some initial confusion about the country’s geography—particularly regarding the capital— the travelers prepared for a long journey ahead.
The travelers soon discovered that "Mzungu," a local term for a white person, came with its own set of experiences as they strolled through the streets and markets, attracting friendly exclamations from locals. The vibrant energy of the city was palpable, setting the mood for the adventure that lay ahead.
