Jordan's military was significantly outmatched and was swiftly engaged by Israeli forces in a series of encounters that led to marked territorial losses for the Hashemite Kingdom.
Israeli operations around Jerusalem culminated in intense ground combat as paratroopers stormed key points, such as Ammunition Hill. Overcoming heavily fortified Jordanian positions, Israeli forces captured the Old City of Jerusalem by June 7.
