Within Uganda, reactions are mixed. While many young Ugandans and local traders support Amin's decisions—seeing it as an opportunity for themselves to take on roles previously held by Asians—there is an undercurrent of anxiety regarding whether they possess the necessary capital or experience to successfully replace these businesses. Amin's policies, albeit celebrated by many, risk exacerbating economic challenges, as the reality of running businesses without the financial backing previously provided by the Asian populace sets in.
A segment of the Ugandan population also exhibits a sense of nationalism by supporting Amin's rhetoric; however, it raises the question of long-term viability without the expertise that the expelled community once offered.
