Part 2/8:
At the pinnacle of Ethiopia's vibrant narrative is Addis Ababa, the country's capital, situated in the mountains at an average altitude of 2400m. Not only is it the highest capital in Africa, but it also boasts a unique history, being established in 1882 by Emperor Menelik II. The city today is experiencing remarkable economic growth, marked by numerous bus stations that serve surrounding areas, although public transport primarily consists of buses and shared taxis—luxurious private cars remain a rarity.
Amharic, the official language, binds the nation together, which is notably the only African country to have never been colonized by Europe. Agriculture and livestock form the backbone of the economy, with Ethiopia being the leading producer of coffee in Africa.
