Part 2/10:
From its inception, the geography of Lagos has been both a blessing and a curse. Historically, early explorers regarded its layout—intertwined with lagoons and islands—as unsuitable for substantial urban development. However, against these odds, Lagos emerged as a metropolis. The city's roots find their origin with the Yoruba people, who settled in a place called Eko. Chief leaders known as the "white cap Chiefs," descendants of a ruler called Olofing, began to establish settlements amid local territorial rivalries and foreign incursions.
