Part 2/8:
Upon arriving in the Chambri region, an anecdotal warmth greets with a meal prepared by the village chief, accompanied by local hunters and the chief’s son. This particular feast consists of smoked tilapia and SEO (pronounced "sago"), a unique carbohydrate mined from the sago palm, which can yield hundreds of pounds of starch. The hardships of life in this tropical environment, marked by six-month annual floods that obliterate agricultural practices, have forced the Chambri people to become adept at fishing and bartering—an essential survival mechanism in this isolated locale.
