Initially, Costco did not feature the food courts we associate with today's shopping experience. In 1985, however, a hot dog cart outside a San Diego Costco introduced an unexpected culinary delight. The success of this small venture led Costco to create its own café, Café 150, where the infamous hot dogs were served alongside a variety of other budget-friendly menu items.
In 2008, Costco switched to their Kirkland brand of hot dogs, which allowed them to cut costs significantly by producing their own sausages. The new offerings maintained high quality, leading to customer satisfaction despite the change in sourcing.
