It was there he allegedly created his famous fried chicken recipe. After adopting his iconic persona and opening his first franchise in 1952, Sanders’ fame skyrocketed, culminating in the sale of the franchise to investors in 1964 for 2 million dollars while retaining his title as the brand's face.
This story paints a picture of hard work, grit, and eventual success, encapsulating an inspiring tale many would admire. But a closer examination reveals that this official narrative glosses over many less glamorous chapters of Sanders' life.
