In 1925, another chapter of mystery unfolded with the excavation of the Great Sphinx near the Giza Plateau. Initially regarded merely as a colossal statue, French engineer Emile Baraize unearthed its full body, revealing one of the largest monolithic sculptures on Earth. Despite extensive studies, the Sphinx retains its secrets: no inscriptions clarify its origins or purpose. Legend has it that King Thutmose IV encountered the Sphinx in a dream, during which it promised him kingship if he cleared it of sand, suggesting a deeper interconnectedness between the monument and the divine.
