Growing up in the Bay Area during the 70s, Wright was immersed in a different kind of entertainment—roller derby, which was far more popular than wrestling during that time. Nonetheless, the discussions with the wrestlers at the Crazy Horse sparked a new idea. Surprised to learn that fellow wrestlers, like Bam Bam Bigalow, were making substantial incomes from wrestling, he began to reconsider his path.
