The concept of social fields can be likened to the dynamic behavioral patterns observed in flocks of birds. Take the starlings flying in synchrony over Brighton's West Pier; their rapid directional changes present a phenomenon long studied yet not fully understood by scientists. The intriguing complexity of flock behavior cannot simply be illustrated by the idea of individual birds reacting to their immediate neighbors.
