In 2021, the CSIS DIIG published an initial report titled "The Future of Military Engines," outlining the importance of military engine technology. Following this, additional research utilizing recent contract data and newly released defense budgets was conducted to shed light on two crucial policy questions:
What priority does the Department of Defense (DoD) place on the ongoing development of fighter engine technology?
Where are investments being targeted in this critical area?
