Part 4/11:
As the protests erupted, Kermit was ordered to evacuate the embassy, but he remained unfazed. He recognized that these riots were the result of his own orchestrations—a necessary precursor to what he envisioned as a grand political coup. The nuances behind this tumultuous period in history can be traced back to Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh's policies, particularly his nationalization of the Iranian oil industry, which threatened Western economic interests hoped to exploit those resources. The British intelligence agency MI6 initially proposed a coup, but after several unsuccessful attempts to oust Mossadegh, the CIA, under President Dwight Eisenhower's administration, joined forces with their British counterparts. Thus began Kermit's dangerous game of deception and control.
