Seeking to uncover the origins of the Great Wall, Maca travels to the site of the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an. This mausoleum, constructed for China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, reportedly incorporated earlier fortifications, leading to the creation of what we now recognize as the Great Wall.
Historians suggest that the initial walls were constructed during a time of warring states before the unification of China. The emperor consolidated these pre-existing structures into a cohesive defensive network, extending its length and purpose, paving the way for the subsequent developments by the Han and Ming dynasties.
