As part of my journey from Palenque to Mérida, I had the pleasure of riding on an Alstom X'Trapolis diesel multiple unit. These sleek four-car trains can reach a design speed of 180 km/h (112 mph) with a current operational ceiling of 140 km/h (87 mph). From the vibrant green and white livery adorned with Mayan patterns to the streamlined boarding process, the experience was promising.
I chose to travel in Premier Class, which boasts a 2+1 seating arrangement, ensuring a comfortable ride. My specific seat was No.48, located solo by the window. Luggage can be conveniently stored in overhead racks or behind the last row of seats.
