Part 2/10:
The Dalton Highway, carved through the unforgiving Alaskan wilderness, was originally constructed as a supply route for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Built within some of the most remote environments in the world, this road wasn’t even open to public travel until 1994.
The journey along this highway introduces travelers to strikingly unique landscapes, from dense boreal forests to endless tundra and ice-covered peaks. Along the route, exploration of the ecosystem provides insight into life that has adapted supremely to extreme cold conditions, with only a few small settlements welcoming those brave enough to venture into this isolated world.
