When engaging in debates regarding the determinism of the universe, the terms "determinism" and "predictability" are frequently conflated. However, these two concepts are fundamentally distinct. Determinism addresses whether every event is preordained and ultimately determined by past events and natural laws. In contrast, predictability pertains to our ability, or lack thereof, to foresee these events.

Interestingly, a spectrum of logical possibilities exists concerning the relationship between physical systems and determinism. Some theories can operate under both deterministic and indeterministic frameworks.
