The CIA is unlike any other federal agency due to its profound reliance on clandestine operations. While many federal organizations, such as the Department of State or IRS, have their employees overtly associated with the agency, the CIA has a distinct structure where many of its clandestine officers may be employed under other covers. This means that they may appear to work for different organizations, effectively masking their true affiliation with the CIA.
CIA's operational structure is divided into four main directorates:
Director of Operations
Director of Analysis
Director of Administration
Director of Science and Technology
