Part 7/10:
Despite the turmoil following his NFL career, Tatum sought to reinvent himself. He worked briefly in the Raiders’ marketing department and owned a restaurant but eventually pursued a writing career, authoring several books about his life and experiences in the NFL.
In 2003, Tatum confronted his own mortality when health complications forced him to fight a debilitating staff infection, resulting in a leg amputation. While grappling with these challenges, Tatum found a renewed purpose by connecting with children facing similar health struggles, channeling his experiences into charitable efforts to raise awareness and support for diabetes research.
