Despite this apparent superiority, issues concerning leadership, communication, and logistics plagued them throughout the initial onslaught. The French air force was notably underprepared, with many planes outdated, while their primary tanks and artillery, despite being considerable in number, could not compensate for the air advantage enjoyed by the Germans.
