During the landing, the aircraft—described as a larger size than typical regional jets—experienced an alarming descent rate. Eyewitness accounts noted that the jet came in far too quickly, hitting the runway at nearly double the safe descent rate. This abrupt landing resulted in the right main landing gear shearing off, causing the aircraft to roll off to one side. Despite the chaos, however, the left wing was still capable of producing lift, which played a crucial role in keeping the situation from escalating into a fatal accident.
