Erwin Schrödinger, an Austrian physicist, is often celebrated as one of the key figures in the founding of quantum mechanics. However, he is best known for a thought experiment that he concocted, which has spurred endless philosophical discussions. This thought experiment enigmatically involves a cat.

The Thought Experiment

In his imaginative scenario, Schrödinger posed the idea of placing a cat inside a sealed box along with a device that has a 50% chance of causing the cat's demise within one hour. At the end of this hour, he raised the question: “What is the state of the cat?”
