Despite initial friction with Thomson, who had lost interest in the field, Bohr was deeply inspired by Rutherford's nuclear model. Their discussions prompted Bohr to investigate the implications of electron stability further. Bohr recognized the significance of his exposure to experimental methods at the hands of learned scientists such as George de Hevesy and became intrigued by the role of the atomic nucleus and radioactive decay in determining the chemical properties of elements.
