Part 6/9:
Interventions by new writing teams and shifts in creative direction failed to reignite interest in the show. Writers like Juno Dawson and others associated with the modern themes did little to convince disenchanted fans. It appears that a singular focus on identity politics overshadowed the very essence that made Doctor Who a cultural phenomenon: imaginative storytelling that appealed to a diverse audience.
Much of the blame points toward an overarching agenda that prioritizes specific societal narratives over engaging and well-rounded plots. This has raised questions about the priorities of creators who, having established dominant cultural narratives, neglected the show's original premise of being a fun, escapist journey through time and space.
