Part 3/6:
One fateful day, Wilson received a phone call from Bob Gale, the producer and writer, requesting that he come down to the studio for a discussion. This phone call sent Wilson into a spiral of anxiety, as he feared it would lead to termination of his own role. The drive to the studio was one of the longest of his life, filled with thoughts on how he might navigate this major career setback.
Upon arrival at the studio, the news was finally delivered: Eric had been cut from the film, and Michael J. Fox would be taking over the role of Marty McFly. The immediate relief for Wilson was palpable, as he learned that he would still be paid for his time spent filming with Stoltz and would have the added bonus of snacking on set.
