Euler grew up in the tranquil village of Riehen, which is believed to have cultivated his calm demeanor and extraordinary focus. Starting at the tender age of seven, he delved into complex algebra, displaying an intellect far beyond that of his peers. By the age of 13, he enrolled at the University of Basel, where Johann Bernoulli—one of the preeminent mathematicians of that time—served as a mentor. Though Euler initially pursued theology at his father's behest, Bernoulli persuaded Euler's father to allow his son to devote himself fully to mathematics, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the field.
