The idea of exploring Han Solo's history first surfaced in 2009 when George Lucas sought to create a television show named Star Wars: Underworld. Set between the prequel and original trilogies, this series was intended to feature darker, film noir themes and explore pivotal moments in Solo's life, including his first encounters with Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. Although the project never materialized, it laid the groundwork for what would eventually become Solo.
