As of now, over 30 state prisons have been affected, with hundreds of corrections officers participating in what is being referred to as an illegal strike. The unrest began on a Monday, following a multi-day lockdown at Collins Correctional Facility. Angry at their deteriorating work environments, corrections officers are holding their ground with a long list of demands, including the reversal of the HALT Act, which limits the use of solitary confinement, and a call for no further staffing reductions.
