In 1966, a potential lead surfaced when authorities connected Paul’s case to an abandoned boy named Scott McKinley, which led to his eventual adoption. Though the Fracs were initially grateful to have a son again, Paul's realization of his true origins led to a lifelong search for answers. In 2012, fueled by a desire to understand his identity, he underwent DNA testing, which confirmed he was not the biological child of the Fracs.
