Part 2/8:
His early years set the stage for what would become a remarkable career in music. It was in Jacksonville that he played alongside members of bands he would one day join, including 38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Despite graduating college with a degree in architecture, the struggling economy and a call from friends led him to pursue music full-time instead.
The Rise of 38 Special
Founded in 1974, 38 Special began its ascent in the music world. After two relatively unsuccessful albums, the band hit gold with their third effort, "Rockin' Into the Night." This marked the beginning of the group's commercial success, leading to the release of three million-selling albums between 1981 and 1984, including "Wild-Eyed Southern Boys" and "Tour de Force."
