The 2023 offseason was filled with questionable contracts, but two names emerge as front-runners. Jose Abreu's three-year, $58.5 million deal with the Astros turned disastrous quickly; he was cut after only 176 games, posting a negative WAR. Similarly, Andrew Benintendi's five-year, $75 million contract with the Chicago White Sox saw him underperform, finishing with a batting average below his career norms and being worth negative WAR.
