Part 4/12:
The Central Route is akin to a massive canal that draws water from the Danjiangkou Reservoir on the Han River, part of the Yangtze River system. This 1,264-kilometer canal, often termed the "Grand Aqueduct," utilizes gravity to maintain water flow, necessitating the construction of various dams. Construction was completed in 2014; however, the project was not without its costs — approximately 300,000 people residing near the reservoir were forced to relocate, while the canal's construction depleted water in the Han River.
