The ISS, orbiting at an altitude of approximately 253 miles, has served as a home and laboratory for astronauts from around the world. However, every structure has a shelf life, and the ISS is no different. NASA has reported that this decade marks the end of the ISS’s operational life. As it ages, the costs of maintaining the station rise, and its capabilities diminish. Thus, the time for a graceful exit has arrived.
