In 2014, Wrigley Field underwent significant renovations as part of Project 1060, which primarily focused on aesthetic upgrades and structural restoration. However, hindsight now raises questions about why padding was not included within these renovations when the wall was rebuilt brick by brick.
The dilemma becomes even more complicated considering the wall and Ivy are designated as a National Historic Landmark. This legal status complicates any attempts to modify or pad the wall, effectively prioritizing historical preservation over player safety.
