Part 2/10:
Kenneth Johnson, the creator of V, was no stranger to the landscape of high-concept television. Renowned for creating hits such as The $6 Million Man, The Bionic Woman, and The Incredible Hulk, he sought to create something different in the early 1980s—something imbued with real-world stakes. Inspired by Sinclair Lewis's 1935 novel It Can’t Happen Here, which depicted a chilling scenario of an authoritarian regime rising to power in the United States, Johnson pitched his story as a feature film centered on an internal fascist movement.
