Despite his departure, Kenneth Johnson never relinquished his vision for V. Following the lackluster sequels, he developed a project titled V: The Second Generation, which ignored the continuity established by V: The Final Battle and V: The Series. Focusing on a world still under visitor control decades later, Johnson’s narrative saw humanity firmly integrated under an alien regime. Although he initially planned for it to be a miniseries, it ultimately became a novel released in 2008, which, despite receiving some praise, did not perform well commercially.
